Krav Maga Seminar

Monday, April 12th, 2010

Young or old, male or female, good Jew or bad - you are all welcome at our next Mishmash event that will take your breath away, and knock your socks off. Hopefully not literally, but come prepared: because we are holding our first ever Krav Maga seminar.

Come learn about this eclectic hand-to-hand combat system developed in Israel. It’s rooted in the street-fighting skills developed by Imi Lichtenfeld, who made use of his training as a boxer and wrestler to defend the Jewish quarter during a period of anti-Semitic activity in Bratislava in the mid- to late 1930s. In the late 1940s, following his immigration to Israel, he began to provide hand-to-hand combat training to what was to become the IDF, developing the techniques that became known as Krav Maga. It has since been refined for both civilian and military applications, and has spread beyond Israel.

We’ll start by learning about Krav Maga’s history and its importance to Israel, but we won’t stop there. We recommend that you wear your gym attire because we’ll get you moving! You’ll get to try out a few defenses for yourself! Perhaps learn how to kick so your opponent drops, or how to punch so they don’t want to punch back, or perhaps how to get out of a deadly choke.

Don’t fret, you don’t need to be an athlete to partake. No prior experience is required; this seminar is open to everyone. If you’ve never tried any combative disciplines, this is your chance to step out of the familiar circle, and try something new! As always with Mishmash, we’ll make it fun, and we’ll make it safe!

Senior instructors from the Academy of Self Defense (Santa Clara) will be there to guide, teach, and make sure nobody gets hurt!

Space is limited, so please RSVP (info@mishmashgroup.org) to reserve your spot as soon as possible; the sign up sheet will close on Tuesday, May 4th, or when we are full!
